More regional products.
In West Friesland, many regional products are offered directly from the fields via roadside sales stalls. Be surprised by the versatility of our region, in other words: enjoy it.
A skoôtje is an old West-Frisian bakery product of 250 grams consisting of 10 white bread rolls, a break-bread for special occasions in the spring, which was eaten with butter and syrup. It is the precursor to the Dutch popular white bread roll.
Another meaning of a skoôt is a rope to fasten the sail of a fieldboat and thus keep course. In addition, a skoôt (womb) stands for warmth and security.
We will do our utmost to have the name of B&B ‘t Skoôtje come back during your stay, with the white bread rolls not missing from breakfast.
Nature reserve De Skoôt.
This nature reserve and water storage is a stepping stone in the Nature Network of the Netherlands and part of a nature areas stretch between the IJsselmeer lake and the North Sea.
Bring your binoculars or camera, because it is an idyllic wetland between the West-Frisian ring dike and the horticultural fields with thickets. A nice area for bird watching, including the common snipe, reed warbler, shelduck and the black-tailed godwit.
